As Gandhi stepped aboard a train one day, one of his shoes slipped off and landed on the track. He was unable to retrieve it, as the train was moving. Gandhi calmly took off his other shoe and threw it back along the track to land close to the first. Asked by a fellow passenger why he did so, Gandhi smiled. "The poor man who finds the shoes lying on the track," he replied, "will now have a pair he can use."

by loren eisley

a friend of ours was walking down a deserted mexican beach at sunset. as he

walked along, he began to see another man in the distance. as he grew

nearer, he noticed that the local native kept leaning down, picking up

something and throwing it out into the water. time and time again, he kept

hurling things into the water.

as our friend approached even closer, he noticed that the man was picking

up starfish that had been washed up on the beach and one at a time he was

throwing them back into the water. our friend was puzzled. he approached

the man and said, "good... (more)

what goes right through you from head to toe, heart and soul?

is there anything you're really passionate about?

for me, it's a good song. or a nice breeze (but can you be passionate

about a breeze?)...the kind of breeze that when it comes, you instinctively

want to close your eyes, stretch your arms out to the world and let the

breeze just carry you away.

food for thought. more to come?

steven covey has written, "we all see the world, not as it is, but as we

are." and "the greatest battles of life are fought out daily in the silent

chambers of our souls." how are you seeing things today?

i've always told people if they don't like how things are going or like

what they see, they need to change their perspective on things until they

find something they like. it may not always be practical, but it has

gotten me by.

what makes us any better for eating cows and not cats?

you know how one or a few cultures hold cows sacred, and keep them as we do

cats (sorta)...and they would never consider eating them.... but we gobble

them up like it's nothing. yet we pitch a fit if someone eats a cat (in

china, etc). it's the same thing, but we can't see it because....why? it's

not because we're selfish or stubborn. maybe set in our ways?

i've been considering giving up meat, but i don't really have a good enough

reason. i don't see it as cruel to the animal, because we are designed to

eat meat. that... (more)
